My Writing
“Writing is drawing the essence of what we know out of the shadows.” - Karl Ove Knausgård
The finished project: My completed memoir (116,000 words) follows my transformation from adolescent to adult in a small town in Missouri at the beginning of the millennium. Stylistically, it’s as if David Sedaris and Tara Westover adopted a child, with just the right amount of typhus-ridden dolls, abortion nightmares, purity rings, disappointing love interests and friendship hijinks to lead a coming-of-age revolution of questioning. I am currently seeking representation for this project.
Project in the making: I am also working on a genderqueer sci-fi/fantasy YA novel, which I’m excited to send into the world soon!
